Hoverboard specialist IO HAWK is entering the e-bike scene with its two new pedelec models “E1” and “E2”. The electric bicycles are made of aluminum, with their 23 kg (E1) and 24 kg (E2) particularly light and available in off-road or city design. In addition, the E-Bikes have a 250-watt motor, a 7-speed Shimano transmission, a 26-inch tire, a lockable battery and a start-up and shifting aid limited to 6 km / h in Europe. The tread support is adjustable in 9 steps. The generous 3-inch LCD display provides information on speed, travel time, distance, total mileage, and battery status.
Whether in the city or on the ground – the IO HAWK e-bike models are a good alternative with a lot of accessories for every cyclist. A front and rear light as well as fenders, a smartphone holder, reflectors and a tool set are standard equipment for the bikes. Both pedelecs are equipped with a removable battery, which is inconspicuously integrated into the bicycle frame and secured with a lock. In addition, the battery has a USB port, which allows the user to power while driving or afterwards his smartphone or other electronic devices. The phone is simply inserted into the included holder and connected to the battery via a charging cable.
The large, integrated 3-inch LCD display with backlit illumination ensures that the ride is comfortable, which informs cyclists about the distance traveled using a hodometer. It also shows the speed, the travel time, the battery status, the total mileage, the time and the levels of the driving assistant. The start-up and shifting device is throttled at 6 km / h in both bikes in Europe. In the USA, she supports the driver up to 25 km / h. For the necessary deceleration when driving, Tektro disc brakes are available at the front and rear, both at the “E1” and also at the “E2”.
The matt-black “E1” pedelec mountain bike with its off-road character and 26-inch light-alloy wheels in a stylish design is suitable for tours through rough terrain. IO HAWK uses the same high quality battery cells from Panasonic (model: 18650), which are also used in electric cars. The 36-volt battery offers 14 Ah and a battery capacity of 504 Wh. The 23 kg light bike can store up to 140 km with a battery charger.
Through the city or to the university cruiser the driver with the more favorable variant the E-City-Bike “E2”. In contrast to the “E1”, the “E2” is equipped with 26-inch spoked wheels and has a luggage carrier. The 250 W motor is driven by a Greenway 36 V battery with 10.4 Ah and a battery capacity of 375 Wh. With an accuad, the elegant bike lays back up to 110 km and is therefore also suitable for longer trips.
Sascha Arndt, Managing Director of IO Hawk Invest GmbH, is enthusiastically impressed by the fact that “behind our team, many months of development work, our goal was to create an eBike of high quality combined with a very attractive price.”
The two IO HAWK E-Bikes will be available in August for an EIA of 1299 euros for the “E1” and 1199 euros for the “E2”. Within the scope of a pre-order offer, the “E1” for 999 euros and the “E2” for 899 euros can be pre-ordered at www.iohawk-europe.com.
